Retired Army officers visit oldest enlisted soldier

Officers of the Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces (REMINAF) Ogun State Chapter, have visited the 107-year-old man, John Dada Obafemi, recently touted to be the oldest enlisted soldier alive in Nigeria.

The visit at his house in Ojokoro, Lagos, followed a phone discussion with the National Coordinator of the body, Abiodun Durowaye Herbert.

The group, which comprised Comrade David Ojo (Financial Secretary), Comrade Akinde Olasunkanmi PRO and Comrade Adigun, brought the retired soldier and clergyman good tidings from the entire body of retired members of Nigerian Armed Forces and also presented him with undisclosed cash gift.

They promised to kick-start the process of a bigger honour for the Centenarian, which they hope would culminate in a national honour for him.

Pa Obafemi in turn thanked the visitors for the honour and regaled them with stories of his days in the military and as a clergy with the CAC (Christ Apostolic Church).

Pa Obafemi had in a recent interview in The Nation newspapers staked for the ‘title’ of the oldest enlisted soldier alive.
