Owen Obaseki eulogises Chief Oyuki Jackson Obaseki on his first year memorial anniversary

One Year Remembrance.

It has been one year since you left us.
It is amazing how time runs and heals our pains. Your departure left a big hole in our hearts which we thought could never be filled again. As men go, you were a man’s man, rightfully taking your place in a long and illustrious lineage as grandson of the Iyase of Benin, (1914-1920), son of the Esama of Benin, 1950 to 1958, and a first class Chief yourself 1998 to 2019.

You ran your race and you set great examples which we daily try to appropriate. Your philanthropy was legendary but what we celebrate most about you was your aversion to materialism and your altruism. Even as you are no longer with us, your shadow looms large and we all rest in the knowledge that you have gone to be with your maker whom we believe gave you a pat on the back for a job well done.
Thank you for the legacy you left behind. As it was your prayer, we, your children will strive to exceed your good works.
