Nicole Young the estranged wife of American entertainment polymath, Dr. Dre has revealed that she partly influenced Dr Dre’s trademark project.

According to PageSix, Young is suing the Beats impresario in a California court, claiming that she co-owns the trademark to his name as well as his landmark album, “The Chronic.” Young in the document filed before the court alleges that Dre “secretly” transferred the valuable trademarks to a holding company after, she claims, he kicked her out of their home earlier this year.

The document states that Dre was;

“caught secretly transferring valuable trademarks he owned with his wife to a newly created asset holding company that he created and controlled after he expelled his wife from their home, and before he threatened to file a divorce.”

Dr Dre and his wife, Nicole Young tied the knot in 1996 and they have two children together. According to TMZ, Dre’s wife, Nicole Young filed the paperwork Monday, June 29, 2020, citing the usual irreconcilable differences as the reason for her split from the hip-hop mogul.

Dre, born Andre Romelle Young, is also dad to four kids — daughters Tyra Young and La Tanya Danielle Young as well as sons Marcel and Curtis — from previous relationships. (Son Andre Young Jr. died at age 20 in 2008.)

In December of that year, Dre topped the earnings of the decade with $950 million, thanks mostly to his Beats Electronics empire.

Before he wed Young in 1996, Dre amassed his fortunes as a founding member found fame of the rap group N.W.A. before releasing his solo debut studio album The Chronic in 1992 under Death Row Records, which he co-owned, before he founded his own label, Aftermath Entertainment, and signed Eminem and 50 Cent.

After they wed, in the 2000s, Dre focused on producing for other artists, including 2Pac; Snoop Dogg; The Game, and Kendrick Lamar. Then in July 2008, he released his first product under Beats by Dr. Dre. The success of his Beats business garnered interest from Apple; which purchased Dre’s brand for $3 billion in May 2014.
